1. Who we are

Hangly Hearts ("we", "us", or "our") provides a desktop application for macOS and Windows that lets you display personal photos and interactive charms on your screen. This policy applies to the Hangly Hearts application, our website at hanglyhearts.com, and related support communications.

2. Our privacy principles

• Local first. Core app features run on your computer without requiring an account.
• Your photos are yours. Personal images you upload are not turned into a public feed or social profile.
• Minimal collection. We do not operate analytics, advertising trackers, or crash-reporting pipelines in the app.
• Clear optional features. Network access happens only for features you enable or actions you initiate.

3. Information stored on your device

The application stores data locally, including:

• App preferences and charm settings
• Photos and images you choose to import for frames or custom charms
• Saved charm configurations ("My Charms")
• Your Pro license token, if purchased, verified locally
• Display positions and rope customization choices

This information remains on your machine unless you delete it or uninstall the application. We do not receive your personal photos through normal app use.

4. When the app uses the network

Hangly Hearts does not require continuous internet access. Network activity may occur in these cases:

Software updates

Direct-download builds may check for updates. A typical update request includes standard connection metadata such as your IP address and the app version you are running. Mac App Store and Microsoft Store builds receive updates through those platforms instead.

Weather charm (optional)

If you enable the Weather charm, the app sends the place name you enter to retrieve forecast data. It does not request device location permissions.

Purchases

Pro checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy in your browser. We receive your email address and order reference so we can deliver and support your license. Payment card details are processed by Lemon Squeezy, not stored by us.

Website and email

If you contact us by email, visit our website, or join a platform waitlist, we receive the information you choose to send.

5. What we do not collect

• No mandatory user accounts or login profiles
• No in-app analytics or behavioral telemetry
• No access to your files, keystrokes, clipboard, or screen contents beyond what you explicitly import
• No transmission of Now Playing audio. The Now Playing charm reads media metadata already exposed by your operating system and does not send it to our servers

6. How we use information

We use information only to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve Hangly Hearts
• Deliver and validate Pro licenses
• Respond to support, refund, and creator-program requests
• Send product updates you request, such as platform waitlist notifications
• Comply with legal obligations where applicable

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Retention

Data stored on your device is retained until you remove it or uninstall the app. Purchase records and support emails are retained only as long as needed for billing, support, tax, and legal purposes.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you.

• Delete local app data by removing charms, photos, or uninstalling Hangly Hearts
• Request deletion of purchase or support records by emailing us
• Disable optional network features such as Weather in app settings

9. Children

Hangly Hearts is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

If you contact us or purchase Pro from outside the United Kingdom, your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect information in line with this policy.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of Hangly Hearts after an update means you accept the revised policy.
